Resources in use--will try again soon

Hi,

we are monitoring 221 servers from a dedicated PA Monitor server (quad core / 8GB / Server2008R2) and are seeing quite a lot of messages in the SNMP Bandwidth monitor ur CPU is steady at about 20 - 25%, memory usage is at approx 3GB. the ServerMonSvc.exe *32 process has 113 threads and 2270 handles but is only using 10% processor usage.

We are now going for long periods of time where the PA Server Monitor is not logging the bandwidth usage on our Cisco ASA interfaces. We are running 5.2.0.32 but have see this for several versions.

your website suggests "Monitor 1000+ servers/devices from a single installation" however I cannot find any server specifications but I would assume that our spec of server is plenty good enough.

Any suggestions?

Hi Steven,

Can you tell me what your "Target average CPU usage" is set at? You can find this setting in the Setting Menu by clicking the Setting button.

Hi,

I have the same problem. Most of my SNMP checks on sentral server says "Resources in use--will try again soon". Target average CPU usage is set to 60%. The CPU runs normal at 5-6%

Another fix for this issue can also be changing the cap that is set for the number of SNMP monitors that can be running at one time. If SNMP monitors try to run and the system has hit the max number running the monitor will try to run again in about a minute. The "Monitor busy" message that you are getting is just letting you know that the max number has been hit and that the monitor is waiting and try again.

If you need to increase the max number of SNMP monitors that can run at the same time there is a registry value that you can change, "MaxSNMPMgrUsage".

on which system should be the value assigned, satellite or central monitoring or both? Regards MTE

You will only have one "PowerAdminServerMonitor" entry in the registry, please put the value in either the Wow6432 or the non Wow6432 location.
