How to exclude a report showing a new folder being renamed?

Good Afternoon, we have just upgraded to the latest version after having left FileSight to be dormant for some years. My predecessor was the person who set it up and I am new to the software.

We have a report set to show when a user changes or deletes from our fileserver after numerous issues of incorrect changes. But when a user creates a new folder and then renames it to something appropriate we are getting a report - I don't need to know. Example below:

I've tried a few combinations in the ignore subdirectory field with no luck - please can someone give me some pointers?

Hi Env,

The message in your post is the data recorded by your monitor "Watch E:datajobnumbers". If you don't need this information you can stop recording it by going to the monitor and select the Directory Activities tab. There is a setting that will monitor for Directory Renamed which you can turn off there.

Hi Quinn,

thank you, but I do need to know when a folder is renamed, what I don't need to know is when a new folder (which when you create it in windows is called "New Folder" is renamed.

It sounds like your setting in PA File Sight for Directories is to monitor and record when directories are renamed and deleted.

In File Explorer when a user creates a directory the OS first crates the new directory called "New folder", even thou the user is still being asked to name that directory. Once the user names the directory the OS does a rename from "New folder" to the new name. The OS does this in two steps first a directory is created with name “New folder” and second directory is renamed to the name the user gives it.

If you are monitoring for renaming of directories then the PAFS service will report on the rename of the new directory called “New folder” to the new name.

The ignore options in the monitor are for file types and location of files, not a directory name.
