Move Satellite to another server

Viewed 0

Hello,

I need to move Server Monitor Satellite from current (old) server to new one. New server is on the same subnet (different IP), and need to point on the same Central monitoring service address. Is there any way to do this without creating everything from scratch?

thanks aca

Hi superaca,

Great question. If you want to move the satellite from one server to another and not have to make any changes to your configuration, there are a few things that you copy from the old server and move to the new server. Here are the steps:
1. Install the satellite service on the new server and point it to the central service. Make sure that it can connect to the central service.
2. Then stop the old and new satellite service.
3. Copy the registry key value called Agent_ID on the old server to the new server. Location of registry value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPowerAdminServerMonitor
-or-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodePowerAdminServerMonitor
4. If you are using the PASM satellite service's default database and want to keep the data that has been collected by the satellite, you will need to copy the database files from the old server to the new server. Database files location: ..PA Server MonitorDatabases
5. Start-up the new satellite service.

Thanks
Quinn
