Hi, I just installed 5.8.0.307, and then I wanted to suspend one of the alerts. I was able to remove the error action, but when I tried to remove the resolved action, the double arrows (">>") were greyed out and I cannot stop the resolved action from firing. Do I have to remove the whole monitor, or is there a bug in this version? Or something else. Marmite

It looks like you found a bug. This bug only appears when using the Free version of the software. We do have a fix witch you can download form the preview page.

So I tried removing the error action and then setting the monitor to only fire actions when the monitor detects a problem. Clicked "Apply" and closed the console. When I open the console again, the radio buttons have reverted to "Fire actions when a problem is first detected and later when it is resolved". What gives?

I have tried to reproduce what you did in your first post but I wasn't able. Do you think that maybe you clicked on the "Fire actions whenever a monitor detects a problem" when you were removing the action? That is the only way that I can find that would deactivate the >> button for the Resolved Actions.
In your second post the only way that I know of that would make that happen is if you did all those steps so fast that the service didn't have time to save the new settings in the database. Then when you opened the counsel the new settings wouldn't been shown and the old settings would still be there.
If you can reproduce any of these issue that you have posted about would you please do them again. Then zip up the all of the log files and send them to support@poweradmin.com with the name of the server and monitor that you were doing the testing with.

I have tried another round of testing on a few different monitors trying to get the same the Resolve buttons to Gray Out. I have had not luck with this.
If you switch the radio buttons for firing the alerts and then switch them back, do the Resolve buttons become active?
