Hi everyone,

we are just trying the PA Server Monitor Ultra which is working fine but some litte issues where you could help me maybe:

  1. as I add a computer/server to the Monitoring and it started monitoring some drives lets say C: E: and F: then we decided to delete F: from monitoring. The Chart in the System Information Overview still is there and I do not see an option to delete it. Do you have an idea?

  2. I would like to automatically create some reports for customers, in which there is an short overview graph like in the Group overview, only for a whole week. How do you create reports? The default options don't seem to be really useful for that purpose.

  3. As i create ad-hoc reports, PA is creating folders with the same name to hold them there, is there a possibility to delete this folders as they are empty, because they do not disappear automatically.

With regards

Martin

Hi Martin,

  1. Because the disk data is still in the database for that server the report will report that information until the report display time has elapsed. However, if you need to remove the data you can do so by going to the Ad Hoc report section. Under Free Disk Space select the Free Space report. Then select the Source Data tab and locate the drive that you want to delete the data for. Be Careful Not to Have Any Other Drive Information. Then click on the "Delete Selected Data Sets", it will take a few moments to delete the data.

  2. If you talking about the Group Overview report when you select any group in the console, that report is a snapshot report. It's not able to give you data over a time period. It shows the current status of the monitors. Maybe if you explain what you are looking for I could direct you to another report.

  3. The directories can be manually deleted if you wish. There is also be a clean-up function that should be deleting the empty directories as well. I'll pass this information on to the programmers to look into the issue.

Thanks
Quinn

Hi Quinn,

thanks for your answer. Issue at point 1 is just solved with your help! Regarding the Reports, we would like to have some overview which is simple and over time for a customer, so he can see what happend in a specific time period. I saw some reports which have columns for each day in week where the report put a ok icon in it if nothing happend and a red x if there where problems. All reports, which I found are kind of long and texted. The graphical reports with uptimes and other statistics are very nice but we are lacking some kind of general overview report like you have in the group overview with this nice looking table. Do you have any suggestion or hint for me maybe? Talking about the folders in the reports, can you explain me how to delete this folders manually? I was looking into the SQL tables, because we just implemented SQL 2012 Express for logging the information. Are the folders deleted automatically after time as the software recognizes that there is no content in it anymore?

Thanks for your reply and time.

With regards Martin

Martin,

Your idea for the group overview report has been added to our to do list. As this is the only request for this type of a report it might take a while before it is implemented.

If you want to remove the report directories all you need to do is to navigate to the Reports directory and select the ones you want to remove. If the service will remove old report directories every so often as it scans the Report directory.

Thanks

Sounds like a nice idea. Even the bargraph report of disk space ist pretty unsuable if you have more then 10 disks. Please implement a report with list of drives with a horizontal bargraph in different colors for [used space | free space] = Disksize.
