Hi

I'm new to the forum and have a question about what happens when alerts fail to run.

Usually I've relied on a ping and other monitors to know the status of a machine, but today I had a situation where the VM was responding to pings, but was 100% inaccessible and non-responsive. The monitors just errored saying they could not be run, but no email alert was sent. Is it possible to get alerted if a monitor fails to run?

Thanks

Rich

hi,

I think you can set this in Setting -> System Alerts -> Monitor Failed to run or can't monitor resource

In addition to what Tom said above (global alerts for monitors that can't run), you can also on a per-monitor have the monitor fire alerts. To do that, go to the monitor's Advanced Options to the Status tab. There is a check box there to run notifications if the monitor can't run.
