Hi, Can this software monitor S.M.A.R.T. information from the hard disks?

It already performs an inventory of the hard disks so I guess it's not a huge leap of faith to expect the S.A.R.T. details to be in there too. This way we could be proactive in replacing drives in an array instead of just waiting for them to fail. (we've had a bunch of HP 146GB SAS drives fail recently)

Thanks

Steve.

Steve,

Yes, the Inventory Alerter monitor can be added to your server to watch for the Drive Status not equal to "OK". Then add whatever actions you want and your good to go.

Steve,

The Inventory Alerter is a monitor and you can find it by doing a right click on a server and then select add a new monitor. This monitor is available in v5.0.1.9 and newer.

I do not have it listed in my version PA Server Monitor 5.0.3.135 I have inventory collector but no inventory alerter. I would like to use this to check for hard disk failure as well but I do not have that option. Is it hidden or not available for some reason? I am currently on trial version but still have 28 days left.

Steve,

Sorry, I gave you the wrong version I was looking for the Inventory Collector. The Inventory Alerter is in v5.1.0.94 preview release.

Quinn,

Is this an available monitoring point on a VMWare host? I am getting alerts that there is no inventory when I try to add this monitor.

Many Thanks
