I am looking to configure a monitor that will alert when the monitored CPU(s) stay above 90% for more than 5 minutes. I don't know what the "counter" is counting and how to set the value.

Hi Meejo,

By default the Performance Counter Monitor will try to add the CPU counter to the monitor when you add it to the server. Look for the % Processor Time counter. If you want to edit that counter's threshold select the counter and click on the Edit button. Change the value to 90 and the time condition to 5 minutes. One more change that you will need to do for this monitor is to set the scheduled run time to something less than you 5 minutes.

If you are not sure about the what counter to add to your monitor please look at the Performance Counter Monitor page for an example.

Thanks
Quinn
